Summer Series Update
With one event left its very open to who can win prizes., I've attached a full list of the scores so far but below is a brief summary:
Open:
Two horse race between Gustavo Leon and Tim Wall, Gustavo is 3 points ahead but if Tim can win the last event and Gustavo places worse than second he could overtake Gustavo.
Major:
Only 2.5 points between the top three however any of the following could win with a good final round: Marcos Caso, Setfan Hartmann, Ed Dodds, Andy Travelyan, John Liddle, James Ross and Murray Pollock...... Should be an interesting last round!!
Minor:
Looks like a four horse race between Colin Ripley, Thomas Cameron, Lee Webb and Bob Hayman. It is very close though and someone out of the top four could surprise us yet!!!
Juniors:
Daniel Tong is currently leading the way but one good result from any of the juniors could change this. Thanks again all and I look forward to seeing you all at the final event of the summer on August 21st !!
Aim of these events were to keep chess alive during the quieter summer months, as well as gain a small revenue for the club. Average attendance was 31 entries to each of the 4 events! This included:
Overall series winners were:
Open
1st Gustavo Leon
2nd Tim Wall
Major
1st Alan Welsh
2nd Murray Pollock
Minor
1st Steve Eggleston
