Gosforth Chess Club

We are the largest chess club in the North East of England with over 50 members and 9 teams of all playing strength's across the Northumberland leagues. Click on the pictures below for more information about our club.

Club nights run on a Monday's from 7pm to 11pm, we are located on the first floor of Gosforth Empire Club 32-34 Salters Rd, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 1DX, UK.

We run a wide range of events throughout the year from external speakers, Christmas Blitz to Urban Green park events.

We organise several events throughout the year including our standard play club championships, rapid play championships and our newcomers ladder competition.

Every Saturday from 10 - 12 we run the largest regular Junior Chess sessions in the North East of England, children of all ages and abilities are welcome to join.
