Gosforth Chess Club
One day Junior Chess Competition 2024

On July 7th, 2024 we are proud to be launching our first ever Junior Open Event.

The competition:

Will be hosted by St. Mary’s School, Longbenton

Comprise 8 x 10 minute rounds of chess

Is open to anybody under 18 years of age as at 01/01/2024

Entry fee is £5 per child. There will be cash prizes of £30, £20, £10 for the top three players in each of the following age groups, Under 18, Under 14, Under 10. Each category winner will also receive an engraved shield or medal.

The school scoring the highest combined number of points, regardless of entries, will receive a Shield to be held for 12 months.

Every entrant will play 8 games but may choose to take half point byes (if they wish) for any two rounds except the last.

Note in particular hear to advise us if your child has any special needs and if you have any aversion to our taking photographs on the day.

On completing entry please then transfer £5 to Gosforth Chess Club Natwest Business Account, s/c 55-50-34, a/c 62085786, stating your child’s name as reference.
